Peanut – The Reason Why I Started This Blog
Our daughter-in-law, Rachel, saw a group of kittens on the side of the road, in very real danger of getting killed by the passing cars. She stopped her car in the middle of the road, put her hazzards on, and rescued the group. Some idiot, or idiots, left them there to die. They were very young but the mother was nowhere to be found. Rachel nursed most of them back to health, took them to the Vet, and saved their lives.
She asked me if I wanted any of them and I said I would have a look. I am glad I did. There he was, sitting by himself. I reached out my hand and he walked right to me and put his head in my hand. I immediately snatched up that little bundle of joy and made him part of our family.
When my wife and I got home with our new addition to the family, we sat down with him trying to come up with a name. He’s mostly Tan with a white chest and paws. When my wife said Peanut, it was perfect.
I work from home so Peanut and I were in each other’s company constantly. When I would get up to stretch or go for a walk, he would take the opportunity to pounce. He would wrap his arms around my legs while I tried to walk with him hanging on. He would go to his scratching post, reach up to the top exposing his belly and wait for me to give him a belly rub. If I didn’t get there fast enough, he would look back at me still stretched, waiting for his belly rub.
Behind my seat where I work on my computer there is a large Bay window. Peanut sits there while I’m working. Occasionally, Peanut will tap me on my left shoulder to tell me he wants held, which I happily let him jump onto my shoulder and then onto my chest so I can hold him. Then I had him sit on my lap so I could get back to work. We were inseperable. He was my little buddy.
Peanut passed away on November 11th, 2024. I miss those walks, those belly rubs, shoulder taps, his love. As I mentioned earlier, I work from home so I am now all alone during the day until my wife gets home from her job. I am so lonely during the day. To cope with that loneliness I decided to created this website to, in a way, keep Peanut alive in my mind and heart.
On this website you will find info on how to care for your kittens and cats. I will also do product reviews and recommend products that I feel will be beneficial in raising and caring for your furry little buddy.
